I would love your feedback!

Greetings!

It’s been a few years now that I have posted various videos and articles on biblical Hebrew on yourhebrewtutor.com. Recently, I have not had the time to post new material. My wife and I adopted 2 boys and life has been quite busy since!

I have tossed around the idea of taking down the site; taking a look at the statistics, I’ve noticed only a small portion of what I post gets any amount of traffic. I’m in no way complaining; however, I do want to make wise choices on how to proceed with the site. Therefore, I would greatly appreciate your feedback! In the comments, please respond to the following:

  1. Are the verse-by-verse grammatical videos beneficial? These videos receive the least amount of traffic. What can be improved? Should I place my focus elsewhere?
  2. The articles/videos that focus on a particular topic seem to receive the most traffic. Would it be more beneficial to post new material on specific topics?
  3. Any other comments?

Thank you for your time!

  1. I found all your videos very useful sir. I would just pray and ask the Lord what if anything to teach, and not be too concerned about statistics. He can take something small and make great use of it. I do believe knowledge of the biblical languages is requisite for those of us who teach the word of God, or aspire to do so.

  2. Hello Dr. McDonald!

While I would encourage you to not put a lot of time and effort into the site if it is not receiving any traffic, I truly believe that it has a lot to offer. It is no surprise to me that the videos/articles on specific topics receive the most traffic. In my opinion, those videos/articles set your site apart from many other Hebrew/biblical language websites. From what I’ve seen of your verse-by-verse grammatical videos, you offer more help with morphology and parsing than the Daily Dose of Hebrew videos do. Yet, there are many helpful tools and resources out there for parsing. I could be wrong, but I believe most beginning Hebrew students greatly appreciate resources which introduce them to the discussions and debates that usually take place on a more scholarly level. Thank you for all the work you’ve already put into the site!

  3. I did not know about your personal cite until just recently, but I plan on using it in the future. I think it would be a travesty for the site to be taken down, and even if it only reaches a few people, it is still a blessing.

    God bless you, Dr. McDonald!

  4. Dear Dr. McDonald:

I just knew your website from one of brothers, I took a quick look and love the materials and video in them, why didn’t you tell me this hidden treasure before? : )
I feel a little upset that it doesn’t receive much traffic, but I believe it is worthwhile for hebrew beginners, As in Ecclesiastes 3:1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:
As also with many missionaries who received very little attention and effect at first but it reaps long-lasting benefit in long run the few traffic at present doesn’t mean to me it is less valuable in the sight of God, as far as I see hebrew beginners in chinese church are in desperate need of such material to enhance their hebrew knowledge in practical hebrew bible reading, I got so many questions in hebrew bible reading and got no much resources to verify or help my judgement, your website material can help in part.
Therefore I hope you can continue with your website, of course you can make wise time choices to balance your family and website ministry.
